Riverside Mini Wilderness

The mini wilderness is one of the more rare double grind knives you will find. This is called the mini because of the 4 1/2 blade. This one is shop #838, with all stainless hardware, Black Micarta handles. The balance feels so great in the hand.Loveless did not start making these until the early 90’s. They did not exist in the 1970’s or 1980’s. But Loveless knew there was a massive market for the smaller double grind knives. Look at the NY Special. This is just a slick package all the way around. Anywhere you squeeze the knife it will not bite into your hand. Lots of time people make a Loveless Style knife, and the fit and finish are great. But, when you pick it up the are a bit square around the guard, the handles, across the top of the handle. Where Loveless always rolled and smoothed these out, there are no square biting points of a loveless knife like this. You can see in the photo how the top of the handle rounds down, and smooth. The guard is rounded, the bottom of the guard is rounded. Loveless said “ no matter in what position you work with a knife, it should be just a part of you hand, and won’t bite you when you are have to put pressure on the knife for certain jobs”.
