Riverside Micarta Boot Knife
What you see here is the R.W. Loveless Boot knife made in the late' 70s/early 1980s. If you look at the sheath, it has no snapping strap, which would indicate a pretty vintage work from Loveless, most likely made before Jim Merritt was in the shop. From about 1977 through '81, Bob did not have an assistant in the shop until Jim Merritt came in the early '80s. (Just a little bit of history and education to add to your repertoire.)
The handle sports Bob's favorite material, which is the super-sleek black micarta, which has two-tone pins. This knife has solder, and a very small Riverside, California logo.
I think just the sheath is worth the price; all the later ones have straps that snap. This knife is thin, fast, well balanced, it feels like the boots he made for Harry Archer in Vietnam, a swift light knife. Beautiful double grind.
Because it is so beautiful, early, and has a great sheath. What else do you want? A Loveless that is just a little bit different than the normal.
